His Holiness Bhaktisvarupa Damodara Swami Maharaja, a disciple of ISKCON's founder, Srila Prabhupada, has passed away at 12:15am, 2 October 2006, in Kolkata, India.
He had been receiving treatment for an injury he sustained in a grenade attack at Janmastami in ISKCON's Manipur temple. Just before midnight on 1 October, Maharaja called for assistance complaining of severe pain in his shoulder. Over the next few minutes he became breathless, and before a doctor could be called, he suffered a fatal cardiac arrest.

Re: The Passing of HH Bhaktisvarupa Damodara Swami
Fri, October 6, 2006 - 7:20 AMLet me first start by offering my most humble obeisances to HH Bhaktisvarupa Damodara Swami. In the past I did not realise the exalted nature he has and therefore committed an offense towards him. But I am curious, what were his final words? Does anybody know? What are all the auspicious details of his final moments?
I never appreciated him until he was gone. -

Re: The Passing of HH Bhaktisvarupa Damodara Swami
Fri, October 6, 2006 - 4:47 PMI just read at chakra.org that the Maharaja requested to be placed in samadhi at Radha kunda, and is on his way. When I go there I will beg forgiveness for my offenses towards him. He was too kind.
