I just read it in the book titled Festivals by Lokanath Swami, an Indian guru, and Jayadvaita Swami. It is on page 191 of the book, and Prabupada said we can pray to her to give us her blessings so we can have Krishna as our husband.
I know a lot of Math devotees seem to think Srila Prabhupada never said anything like this, and that the current Gaudiya Math gurus have a monopoly on this type of bhakti yoga, but here it was said a long time ago, in 1976, to a couple of sannyasis at the time by him.

  • Intention is everything. Krsna bhakti rasa bhavati matih...janma koti sukrite ta labyate....Krsna-prema is so very valuable. Srila Prabhupad's comment originates from the Srimad Bhagavatam's 10th canto wherein the gopis pray to Goddess Katayani for this very boon. Its found in the Krsna Book, Srila Prabhupad's summary of Srimad Bhagavatam's 10th canto.

We must come to a living conception of Krsna Consciousness. when viddhi marg is transcended in favor of spontaneous & desparate devotion, all the rules change. Quantum leap. Dive deep into Reality.

I have heard it said that Srila Prabhupada once said he taught his disciples things and they would understand more later on as they developed. Of course everything is there in his books already. He set the example for us to be able to worship Goddess Katyayani but at what stage of consciousness? Where do the previous acaryas say to jump to this stage and not follow the normal stages of sadhana bhakti?
      • It wasn't my intention to say that WE should worship Goddess Katyayani. But that those who are in raga-marg (spontaneous & desperate devotion) can do anything and everything because thier ONLY intention is to satisfy Krsna. WE should always remain at a respectful distance from the higher reality and perform our service from the simple and safe position of viddhi -marg. Pujala-raghupath gaurava bhangi...this is a famous poem composed by Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur that states that we shall keep a humble position at a safe distance from Sri Sri Radha-Krsna and serve them here by doing the needful. Then, when thier necessity calls us to a higher position we may be invited up by THIER Grace. Not our qualification.
"Fools rush in, where angels fear to tread". If we try to drink rasa-lila at our current underdeveloped stage it will finish us. We are not qualified.

Along a parralel line of thought....Srila Prabhupad states in the Nectar of Devotion, page 70 " One should begin the worship of the demigod Ganapathi (Ganesha) who drives away all impediments on the path of devotional service. In the Brahma samhita (verse 50) it is stated that Ganapathi worships the feet of Lord Nrshinghadeva and in that way has become auspiscious for the devotees in clearing out all impediments. Therefore, all devotees should worship Ganapathi."

So here is another example (stated by Srila Prabhupad himself) where the inner intention of development in Krsna Consciousness eclipses the lower injunction against demigod worship. Intention is everything. The surgeon cuts the flesh of a patient, but it is to heal him, not to harm him. Everything must be understood from the appropriate perspective and our perspective deepens and matures as we develop. Young devotees are told to never worship a demigod. Why? Because it will confuse them. They can't understand that Lord Krsna is in the heart of the demigod as paramatma and that the power comes from him alone. They can't recognize substance so they get locked into formalities, but as we grow we come to a broader vision. Srila Gaura kishor das babaji was a siddha mahatma, a realized rasic vaishnava. But he lived in an outhouse for a time...But isn't that tamo guna? How could he be a higher devotee? He's not following brahminical standards? But what was his inner necessity and realization? What was his intention? He could melt the bricks of that outhouse with his quality of hari-nam. Where ever he was- it was Goloka- because that was his platform of conscious development.

I never think of Krishna at all. Definately not about satisfying Him. I only think about how to satisfy my lusty material desires by maybe worshipping Him. If I am desperate at all it is only desperation for gratifying my senses.
But there are other devotees who ask questions in class and reveal their minds and end up exposing that they are thinking of Lord Krishna in a particular relationship already, without realising they are doing it or doing anything wrong. I have found that, being the imitator that I am, I have tried to imitate a relationship with Krishna that you have rightly exposed I did not have and I ended up looking foolish for doing it. It's hard to give up my contamination I don't know if I just became conditioned in this lifetime or if I have been conditioned for many previous births.
Still I want to go around to the various tribes that worship demi-goddesses and tell them about Lord Caitanya and how He is giving us the highest love of God even though we are the lowest. I just have to be really careful about how I do it. Why shouldn't the karmis know about what is out there in Krishna Consciousness for us to get freely?

I just went to www.bhaktidiscussions.com . I heard today's lecture by Srila Prabhupada that they had there and Srila Prabhupada said not to ask Krishna for anything. Not that, Krishna I will serve you if you give me this. So I should not be asking Krishna for anything at all, I should serve Him unconditionally. Then Srila Prabhupada mentioned serving the servant of the servant of Krishna.
We shouldn't then be asking Krishna to please give me this form in the spiritual sky or please give me that form, or some other form because we are asking for a svarupa mukti, liberation in a certain type of form. Instead we should simply be praying, My Dear Lord Krishna, I wll serve You in whatever way You like. I have no desire to please myself, only to please You. If only I could get to that platform.
