    A Shame!

    Mon, October 9, 2006 - 11:19 AM
I just read in the Festivals book where Srila Prabhupada invited all his godbrothers to join ISKCON. He said he would leave some of his disciples to finish their projects and provide some laxmi. The Godbrothers were so old but still they said things like,"If is join ISKCON I will become a little fish in a big pond instead of a big fish in a small pond" and so on. None of them joined. A Shame!
Prabhupada just wanted them to follow the order of their guru, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta. He was going to supply them with laxmi, western devotees, a position in ISKCON and more! But they would rather hold on to their positions till death it seems. Well they got their wishes. They are dead now and never served their guru, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta the way he wanted them to.

Dear bhakta, please, if you are not a familiar with the present situation within gaudiya-vaisnava traditions, please do not use the words like "shame" etc. Things are not black and white and I personaly do not like to see a tree that has only one branch. I like to see a tree with many branches united in the same trunk in the mood of a Vaisnava association (www.wva-vvrs.org) or other noble efforts.

Went to your website and found the list of Acaryas to be many branched, but all stemming from one big Gaudiya Math branch if I'm not mistaken. Who is the one not recognising the noble efforts now? Could it possibly be that maybe even one disciple of Srila Prabhupada, A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami, is also qualified to be an acarya? Or don't they count?
If all you recognise is those born in India still there is the recently proven Bhakti Svarupa Damodar Swami and Gour Govinda Maharaja, along with Lokanath Swami and Giriraja Swami the list goes on and on.
I don't know how the two groups will ultimately merge in the future but merge together I know they will, since there was a prediction along these lines. In the meantime, good luck for now and I hope as many of your groups devotees go back to godhead as ours.

"Us" and "Them", "Friends" and "Enemies". In Bhakti-yoga, regarding other vaisnava groups, there are no enemies to be conquered. Makes me sad to see fitghting spirit in the place where cooperation shoud be more appropriate. Except ones bad qualities, there are no enemies to be conqured in bhakti-yoga.

Why do you accuse me of thinkig all those things you write? "This this guru is better than the other guru." I sincerely dislike this mentality. These are your ideas, not my.

I am just sorry to se "us" and "them" mentality among family of gaudiya-vaisnavas.

Why do I accuse you of these things? Because, like I said, there seems to be only Gaudiya Math acaryas over at your website. If you really think that bhakti yoga includes all Vaishnava groups, why don't you be the first to bridge the gap and include some ISKCON members over at your otherwise Gaudiya Math website? I have to admit not knowing who any of the devotees mentioned at your website are. Maybe there are members of groups other than those of the Math.
And why my fighting spirit? Because say someone is waiting for Jesus Christ to arrive for example, and is a follower of John the Baptist. John the Baptist personally baptised Jesus in the water and said that this is the Messiah, he is not worthy of putting on the Lord's sandals on his feet or whatever. So what if you were a follower of John the Baptist and all of a sudden someone tells you that their guru is better than Jesus? What would you do? Wouldn't it make you angry?
All I can say is that Srila Prabhupada was the personality predicted by Bhaktivinode Thakur to spread Krishna Consciousness to the West. He laid the foundation stone for the Vedic Planetarium which is the temple predicted by Lord Nityananda. Srila Bhaktisiddhanta said he would do everything in his own time. Ulimately it will be seen how he spread the teachings to every town and village throughout the entire world, yet here we have Gaudiya Math "gurus" compared to Prabhupada who are just kanistha and envious. Yes it makes me angry and outraged! I want to yell in their faces,"Give up this nonsense and surrender to Srila Prabhupada!!!". And Srila Prabhupada predicted how one day, gradually one by one, the many different temples in Vrndavana and around the world would eventually become ISKCON temples.
So what are you waiting for? Join ISKCON now!

The statement you have made about "Gaudiya Math gurus" (and which I am not going to repeat) is in my eyes just plain vaisnava-aparadha. I am not sure whom do you mean by this, but do you know for instance Bhakti-pragya Kesava Maharaj, Prabhupada's sannyas guru and his godbrother? As far as I know, Prabhupada held him in high esteem and you might just included him in your heavy statement. You have admitted you do not know them. So, please, do not pass judgements on devotees you do not know! It is very destructive for the spiritual life. There are plenty of inspiring devotees in ISKCON and outside ISKCON as well.

I am not doubting Prabhupada's unique position, but it does not give us the right to offend others. This is not the way we are going to please him and we are going to be his followers. We should learn how to properly glorify Srila Prabhupada (or any of our gurus) without offending other devotees and sadhus. Since my comments are generating such statements from your side, I am sorry, but I am quitting this topic at this point.

Thank you for expressing your wisdom, may all vaishnavas come together in the mood you have expressed here and move past these judgements that keep us in seperation.

from the above link (thanks Makhancora Prabhu:

"They tried to find out the absolute religion and their labors were crowned with success, for God gives all that He has to His children if they want to have it. It requires a candid, generous, pious, and holy heart to feel the beauties of their conclusions. Party-spirit - that great enemy of' truth - will always baffle the attempt of the inquirer who tries to gather truth from religious work of their nations, and will make him believe that absolute truth is nowhere except in his old religious book. What better example could be adduced than the fact that the great philosopher of Benares will find no truth in the universal brother-hood of man and the common father-hood of God? The philosopher, thinking in his own way of thought, can never see the beauty of the Christian faith. The way, in which Christ thought of his own father, was love absolute and so long as the philosopher will not adopt that way of thinking he will ever remain deprived of the absolute faith preached by the western Savior. In a similar manner the Christian needs adopt the way of thought which the Vedantist pursued before he can love the conclusions of the philosopher. The critic, therefore, should have a comprehensive, good, generous, candid, impartial and a sympathetic soul."

we glorify Srila Prabhupada by respecting all Vaisnavas. amanena-amadena kirtanayah sada harih
